Vivo Y78+ 5G Debuts with 120Hz OLED Curved-Edge Display

Vivo Y78+ 5G

The Chinese manufacturer has quietly unveiled the Vivo Y78+ 5G in China, which is aimed at budget-conscious buyers. Surprisingly, the smartphone was released without much publicity. Reports have confirmed that this is the first Y-series Vivo device to feature a curved-edge display, making it a noteworthy addition to the lineup. It seems that Vivo’s current priority is the launch of the Vivo X90 series in India, with the Y78 series potentially following suit with less fanfare.

In addition to its curved-edge display, the Vivo Y78+ 5G boasts a 50MP dual-camera setup with optical image stabilization, as well as a Snapdragon 6-series processor and 44W fast charging support. Check out the device’s full specifications, features, and pricing details below.

Vivo Y78+ 5G Features

The Vivo Y78+ 5G features a large OLED screen of 6.78 inches, which offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, which means that the screen refreshes 120 times per second, resulting in a smoother and more fluid visual experience. The display is also capable of producing vibrant and accurate colors, thanks to its 100 percent DCI-P3 and 105 percent NTSC color gamut. The device also boasts an impressive 8000000:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, making it easy to view even in bright outdoor conditions.

For taking selfies and making video calls, the Vivo Y78+ 5G comes equipped with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. While not the most high-end camera on the market, it should be more than sufficient for most users’ needs. The dual-camera system on the back of the Vivo Y78+ 5G comprises a 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a dual-LED flash.

In addition, the Y78+ 5G comes preloaded with the latest Android 13 operating system, which is complemented by the custom OriginOS 3 user interface. The Vivo Y78+ 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 695 chipset, which is a 5G-capable chipset from Qualcomm. It’s paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which should provide enough speed and space for most users.

One of the standout features of the Y78+ is its 4,500mAh battery, which should provide ample power for a full day’s use. It also supports fast charging, with 44W charging capabilities. The Y78+ 5G is a sleek and lightweight device, measuring 162.24 x 74.79 x 7.89mm and weighing only 177 grams.

In addition to its impressive display, powerful processor, and camera system, the Vivo Y78+ 5G offers several other notable features. For connectivity, it supports dual SIM cards and 5G for faster download and upload speeds. It also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS for location tracking.
