Xpad–World’s First GLONASS Tablet Goes Official In Russia

The planet’s first GLONASS tablet, the Xpad has been launched officially in Russia by Sky Link company. The Xpad is a Android 2.2 Froyo powered tablet having some mid-range specifications. If you are not aware of GLONASS, which stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, is a radio-based satellite navigation system operated for the Russian government by the Russian Space Forces.

Specs wise, Xpad tablet is having Android 2.2 Froyo OS, featuring a 7-inch display, powered by an 800MHz application processor, complimented with 512MB RAM, and it has also got a 3.2 megapixels camera, SIM card slot, and its battery gives 5 – 6 hours of life in the web browsing mode at present, but the Xpad will be equipped with a more powerful battery at launch time.

Price & Availability

There is no word about the exact launch date of the GLONASS-enabled Xpad tablet, but it is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of this year with a price tag of $500.
