Hours before its official launch, the press renders of Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 V, have been leaked. These images showcase the phone’s flat-sided design and boxy form factor, providing a detailed look at the device from all angles.
The Sony Xperia 1 V has been subject to numerous leaks ahead of its official announcement, with images of the device’s exterior appearing online through various sources. These leaks include what is believed to be the actual device in February, an unofficial rendering by a well-known leaker, a billboard in Hong Kong a few weeks ago, and a listing on a Chinese online store yesterday.
The Sony Xperia 1 V appears to be the natural evolution of its predecessor, the Xperia 1 IV from the previous year. Sony’s signature design language is instantly recognizable, with a strikingly similar appearance to its predecessor, albeit with a flatter side profile. The company has stuck with the same boxy and flat-sided form factor for quite some time. It’s a distinctive look that sets Sony’s phones apart from the competition.
The leaked press renders of the Sony Xperia 1 V show that the phone’s design is quite similar to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 IV. It features a boxy shape with flat sides, and a non-curved display on the front with evenly sized top and bottom bezels. The most notable change from the previous model is the series of grooves on the sides and the subtle protrusions on the back.
The selfie camera is located in the top bezel, while the rear camera module houses three sensors and an LED flash. On the bottom of the phone, there is a SIM card tray and a USB-C port, and on the top, Sony has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The display size and specs are not yet known, but we can expect it to be a high-quality panel with Sony’s proprietary display technologies. The phone is likely to be powered by a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
Additionally, the back of the Sony Xperia 1 IV also features an LED flash and the Sony logo at the bottom. The camera module is placed in the top left corner of the back panel and is slightly raised. Recent leaks suggest that the smartphone will feature a high-quality camera system capable of capturing great photos and videos. If the leaked renders are accurate, the Xperia 1 V will be one of the few flagship smartphones to still include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature that many users appreciate.
Sony is known for releasing only a limited number of smartphones each year, with the Xperia 1 series being the most prominent among them. It remains to be seen how the Xperia 1 V will compete with other leading Android smartphones in the market. We’ll keep an eye out for any updates and keep you posted.
