Google announced a new HD-only Chromecast just a couple of weeks ago. Today they brought a refreshed version of its Wifi mesh router system, with just a day left to the big Pixel hardware event where it will launch its Pixel 7 flagships and Pixel Watch. There is already a wide variety of Wi-Fi routers available in the market for you. But if it’s time to invest in a mesh router with Google branding, now is the right time for you. Google officially launched its upgraded Wifi system today – the new Nest WiFi Pro.

The notable feature of this device is it has Wi-Fi 6E compatibility. That means you will get the standard 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, along with a new 6GHz band to help better handle your home network load. The addition of 6E compatibility makes this router a significant upgrade for mesh networking with concrete improvements to performance even if you don’t have 6E-compatible hardware at home

The new Nest WiFi Pro 6E also acts as a hub for smart home devices with tri-band connectivity. It allows you to expand the range and quality of your network by adding additional routers.

The new Nest WiFi Pro router works up to two times faster than a standard WiFi 6 router. It provides 802.11ax WiFi with AXE5400 speeds or up to 5.4 Gbps combined over the 3 bands. Google claims it can automatically optimize your network to keep it fast, and it will try to troubleshoot and take care of problems on its own and tells you through the Google Home app. It can fix a lost connection. You will also get parental controls like Wi-Fi scheduling to restrict access at bedtime or dinnertime and to block harmful content.

It is ideal for modern home networking needs – from providing connectivity to multiple smartphones, smart TVs, laptops, consoles, and other smart home devices. Nest Wifi Pro analyses your network performance to keep it speedy and minimize blockage. It further prioritizes video calls and streaming.

Under the hood, the Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro 6E is powered by a dual-core processor, which is paired with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It has Bluetooth LE, two (2) 1Gbps ethernet ports, and WPA3 encryption with automatic software updates, and it is made of 60% recycled materials. In case you are wondering, the new Nest WiFi Pro 6E does not play music and also doesn’t support Assistant voice commands. That means there’s no similar functionality to the previous-gen Nest Wifi router. It also does not work with older Nest WiFi or Google WiFi units.

A single Nest WiFi Pro covers up to 2200 square feet. Of course, you can obviously add additional units – that means a packs of two units covers up to 4400 square feet.
