OnePlus Buds Pro 2 goes official with Dual Drivers, Spatial Audio, ANC

OnePlus kicks off the new year with a bang. After announcing the OnePlus 11 flagship in China at an event, the company also announced the new pair of truly wireless earbuds, called OnePlus Buds Pro 2. As the name implies, it comes as the successor of the previous-gen OnePlus Buds Pro.

The new OnePlus Bud Pro 2 carries the same design language of the original, but it got some notable improvements over the previous model, including a Dynaudio audio tuning, which is said to offer a more immersive listening experience, and OnePlus has been using this feature in its audio products. It comes packed with algorithms to activate 48db depth and 4000Hz width Active Noise Cancellation to isolate and “remove” unwanted sounds while preserving the original audio signal.

There is a 11mm woofer and 6mm tweeters to provide improved audio. Each earbud has got “MelodyBoost” Dual Drivers, which is expected to improve vocals in a wide array of tracks and ensures that deep, rich bass is present without any rumbling or infringing.

Rest of the features are improved high-frequency clarity, 54ms low latency for gaming, 360° spatial audio, LHDC 5.0 audio codec (To be added via OTA update) with a transmission rate of up to 1Mbps for 4 times better details. There’s also support for touch controls, fast pairing with ColorOS devices, and cervical spine health function – it can also monitor cervical spine pressure and posture when using a compatible ColorOS device. OnePlus also built it with IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

The new Buds Pro 2 can last up to 9 hours with ANC disabled on a single charge, and up to 39 hours of playback time with the charging case. With ANC on, these buds can last up to 5 hours and 25 minutes. The case also supports wireless charging.

OnePlus says the dome of the woofer is built with a crystal polymer diaphragm with a separate dome and edge design to improve the connection between the low and mid-frequencies and the high frequencies – taking into account the detail of the vocals and high frequencies. OnePlus has also crafted a silicone edge into the woofer to enhance the flexibility and texture of the low frequencies.

The Chinese brand is charging ¥899 ($130) for the Buds Pro 2 in China. It will be sold in two colors: Black and Green. The sale will kick off on January 9th for the Chinese people, while the global launch scheduled on February 7th.
