Sony Xperia Z (Yuga) handset

A week ago, we found a couple of leaked images of the rumored device, the Xperia Yuga. It was also claimed that the handset will have back glass, which is similar to the Apple iPhone 4/4S and there will be a shutter Key on the side of the device. As per the latest reports, Sony Xperia Yuga is expected to be launched as the “Xperia Z” which will be the first 1080p smartphone from Sony Mobile.

Today, according to a new report posted on Website “eprice”, it is mentioned that the handset will be announced by the manufacturer at CES 2013, in the first half of January in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earlier, there was confusion that whether the device will be launched at CES event or MWC event in early 2013. It is reported that shortly after the CES event, the handset will be available in China around 4298 CNY ($690 or €520).

From the previous report, it appears that the handset will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a compact slim body measuring 139x71x7.9mm, a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 quad-core processor along with the Adreno 320 graphics Processor, 12 MP camera on the back with flash, 2GB RAM, microUSB 2.0, microHDMI port, microSD slot, 4G LTE radio inside, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n connectivity and more.

It is expected that the handset will also sport IP57 (or IPP5) certification for dust and water resistance like the Sony Xperia V handset. In addition to this feature, it will sport low-reflectivity using ‘OptiContrast’ technology, which helps in reducing the on-screen reflections, using a special resin coating on top of the display.

We are hoping that Sony will unveil more info about the handset as we go closer to the date of announcement.
