We are pretty sure that Android powered Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is definitely on its way to grace the Verizon Wireless network in the U.S. But we want exact info regarding its official release date. It has been teasing us by appearing in Verizon’s latest online catalog and Walmart website. We’ve already came through a source about its May 26th launch date and this source going to true finally.
According to a screenshot taken by Pocketnow, Xperia Play should make its way to the Verizon’s portfolio of Android smartphones on May 26th. Verizon is also expected to release Motorola Droid X2 on the same date.
As a reminder, the Xperia Play runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, sports a 4-inch FWVGA (480 x 854) screen, 5.1-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, powered by 1 GHz Scorpion ARMv7 single-core CPU, 400MB of RAM, PSP like gaming buttons on the side sliding board, 8GB memory on a micro-SD card, which can be extended up to 32GB, 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity, Wi-Fi Hotspot, stereo speakers, Bluetooth, and the Xperia Play is the first Android device to feature Sony’s ‘PlayStation Suite’.
